The Big 28!

I sound like I'm a little bit sad that I am 28 know. That is quiet the contrary. It was a nice day filled with family. All I wanted was to spend some time with my family and that is what I got. It was a great day.

Yesterday at lunch I told Henry that there was going to be a birthday tomorrow. He then replied 'who is the party going to be for then Mom?' to which I pointed to myself. He looked at me as you could see the wheels turning, and then he got it, and replied 'It's going to be your birthday Mom!' To which I told him yes. All day he kept on talking about the party tomorrow.

After supper I asked him if he wanted to help me make a cake. He was all over that one. He sat on the island and help me crack the eggs and then I gave him the job of being in charge and telling Mommy how to make the cake. I gave him the box for the directions to which he looked at and told me how to make the cake. If I do say so he was so good at it. He told me that we need to make the cake with eggs, and oil. Then we would mix and mix and mix it until we put it in the pan. So right before bed I told him that when he wakes up in the morning he has to come find Mommy and he need to tell me Happy Birthday and give a great big kiss and hug, and tell me that he loves me. Well I thought okay maybe he will remember, but come on he is 3 year old that was also very excited that his cousins were in town and staying over for a sleep over. He had no chance that he would remember.

Well much to my amazement, after he got up I was on my way downstairs to get breakfast ready and he came running down saying "Mom I have to tell you a question, Happy Birthday!!" He then gave me a great big hug and a kiss and said "I love you!!" I would have to say that was the best birthday gift I have received in a long time. Oh the innocence of young children.

Well the rest of my day was great. Bring it on getting old, I'm loving it (My kids getting older and all the fun stuff that comes with it and also getting wiser with age).

Time Flys

I can't believe it has been a month since my last post.

A lot has happened in the last month. We went to Utah for a week near the end of April, to spend time with family and do some sight seeing and lots of shopping. We had so much fun. The boys were so good with all the driving. I had so much fun down there, we will definitely be going back soon. The last time we went down was 6 years ago for conference. It was a last minute trip that we took with some friends when neither of us had any kids. We drove down and spent 3 days. Things are different when you travel with kids and you have more time to spend. We went to the conference center with the boys and did a tour. We also spent Easter Sunday on temple square with Family. It was such a beautiful day. Justin and I also got to attend a temple session at the Salt Lake Temple. That was such an amazing experience and I am so grateful we were able to have the time and a babysitter (thanks Grandma Kunkel).

Henry also started Soccer the week we got back from Utah. He is loving the shoes and shin pads more than going out on the field and kicking the soccer ball. Justin is coaching as well which is fun.

We are so looking forward to summer now that we are getting warmer weather and the grass is starting to turn green. We have started working on the fences and landscaping around our house and I can not wait until it is all done and we have no more mud and dust to deal with in our backyard. It will be so nice to be able to have Henry go out there and play again.

Spencer's birthday is coming up as well. I can't believe that in less than 1 month he will be 1 years old. It is so crazy. So excited for his party. We are doing a theme party. Any guess's? I think I am more excited to see how the theme works out. Any ways it will be Dr Seuss theme.

I'll get some photos next time around.

Cooking, Cooking

I have been having so much fun lately with all the different meals and desserts and food that our family has been eating. I decided that we had to make some changes because I felt like we were eating the same thing over and over again , and we needed a little adventure. So I have been making new recipes like crazy. And it has been amazing. Henry loves all the new flavors and yummy delicousness (is that even a word). Spencer is even getting in on some of the action. Even Justin our resident food critic has enjoyed the new meals. I am so happy I don't have picky eaters, most of the time. If you go over to the right and scroll down on my blog you can see a few of the blogs that I follow, for cooking. They are amazing and I have not been disappointed yet. My favorite so far has to be picky palate. Go on over and check her out. She has an amazing array of different recipes, pictures, and tutorials on how to make every dish. We tried the chicken tostada last night. What a hit it was. We are all happy at our house that Mommy is finally mixing it up a little with our palates. I hope that you all can get inspired to create some yummy dish's and livin up yours and your family's palates.

Yummy, Yummy Breakfast

So this past weekend, I decided to try some new recipes. I got a list of them and planned out our week of meals. The first recipe that we tried was Bacon and Egg English Muffin Cups. You can find the recipe at picky-palate.com. They were absolutely delicious and great hit with everyone, especially on Sunday morning as we were wearing our PJ's and watching General Conference. I even made them again on Monday morning. My new favorite breakfast. I would have to say even better that McDonald's.

A few Crazy Days

So the past few days have been a little crazy. I'm not sure if you remember, but back in September I potty trained Henry. Or so I thought. That last all of a few weeks and he was back into diapers. Well on Monday morning I was planning on starting to potty train him. Come on he was 3 in November right? Well I woke up to him telling me that he wanted to go on the potty and wanted to wear his big boy underwear, no more diapers. So we put him on the potty and he went! Horray! And then he started to wear his underwear. About 4 hours later and only 2 accidents he was going on the toilet all by himself, no reminding or anything. I am so proud of him.Henry decided for the first time yesterday that he was going to dress himself. This is a few shots of the outcome.

Henry decided to do some artwork today. Unfortunately when Henry decided to draw it usually on himself or someone else (His friend Cosette was over about a month ago and they were upstairs being so quiet that her mom and I didn't think anything of it, until they both came downstairs with Pen allover themselves. They had drawn all over each other)or the walls. Today was no exception. He got a hold of some highlighters and did some artwork all over his face.

Here is a picture of our little VIKING! Such a happy baby. Spencer got sick this week. And then it turned into Pink Eye. It was so horrible. His eyes were red, sore, and getting stuck together. It was so hard to get his eye drops in. Daddy is the pro, he doesn't even cry for Justin. On the other hand he starts crying the minute he sees me holding the bottle of drops. I don't know why? Henry was the same. Either way he is doing so much better and the red and swollen eyes are starting to go away. Now if he would only be a happy baby that would nap.

Baby Steps!

So today is the day that Spencer decided that he was ready to pull himself up on the furniture. He pulled himself up on his knees about 3 or 4 times this week. But today is the day he decided he could get up on his feet. And how did he decide to do it. He pulled himself up on Henry's Firestation. So, so cute!

New Stuff

So I had a party this weekend for Stella and Dot Jewelery and a Scentsy party together. I ordered some new yummy scents to warm. I also ordered some new earrings and a necklace. I can't wait to get them. Aren't they so pretty?

Family Day

Well this morning I woke up to Henry saying that he wanted to watch Tinkerbell (I know a 3 year old boy that loves Tinkerbell - it makes me laugh every time he asks). Well I couldn't find the movie and that is what started our day off, crying. And lots of it. Talk about waking up on the wrong side of the bed. Then he wouldn't eat breakfast, wouldn't stop crying and then he started to burn up. My poor little boy, sick, sick, sicky. I feel so bad for him. He looks like every part of him is aching. The thing is when you ask how is feeling, he'll say 'Doing Good', even when you know he feels like poo. My poor little guy. Hope you start feeling like yourself my Love.

Here is a photo of Henry from the photo shoot we did this week. This is one of my favorites because he doesn't look 3 in this photo. He looks so cute and mature for his age. Enjoy.

Family Pictures

We took family photos this past week. When prepping for the photos I asked Justin for his opinion on what color we should wear. Not a good idea when he is a photographer and decided to be artsy this time. He told me he wanted us to wear BLACK. All black. Well at first I was like no way. All black that won't work. Then after a discussion we decided to go with it. Well I went shopping and found a black sweater vest for Henry, a black Cardy for Justin and I, but I could not find anything for Spencer. So then we decided that we would incorporate some gray. So here is what we ended up with:

It was so much fun. Henry was good. Gave us a lot of good pictures. Spencer was cranky. A combination of being sick, lack of naps, and it was in the afternoon when he should have been sleeping. We got some good ones. Not a lot of smiling ones.

Anyways I'll post more pictures later.

Until next time :)

3 Months in a Flash

My, oh my it's been awhile since I've written anything. Life has been going by so fast.

Well where to start. On Nov 13 we had Henry's 3rd Birthday Party (his birthday is actually Nov 15). We did a superhero theme. He was really into Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Thundercats and just playing dress up. So we invited all the Superhero's to come dress up and ready to have a good time. Of course he was Batman, Spencer was Superman! It was a lot of fun.

Since I knew that November and December would be really busy around here I started my Christmas shopping right after Halloween. I had it all done within a week, I must say it was the soonest I have ever been done my Christmas shopping in my whole life. It was so nice not to have to worry about the presents and shopping in December when the malls get crazy!

After Henry’s Birthday I got busy with our business and was didn’t get done until the Monday before Christmas. It was nice to have everything done and so I was able to enjoy Christmas and the holidays without knowing that there was work to be done.

Christmas was such a good time. Justin was taking photos for a tournament that ran here in Calgary from Boxing day until New Year’s day. So we stayed in Calgary for the holidays. We had our first Christmas in our new house, with just the four of us. We decided that since it was going to be our first Christmas in our new house that we wanted to have a real tree. It was so nice to have a tree set up for Christmas (to be honest it was the first time in 6 years we have had a tree up for Christmas). The boys had so much fun opening presents and Justin and I enjoyed watching them. For dinner we had my sister and her family over as well as some friends that are from England over. We cooked the Turkey and the rest was a joint effort. It was a very good meal, good company and a good time.

After Christmas Justin and I decided that we needed a break for all the rushing of life and we decided we needed a vacation. So Justin went to work looking into when and where we would go, my job was to make sure we all had a passports. Well Spencer needed one and Henry and mine expired in May. So we went to Walmart to get our photos done. My goodness that was an experience. After 30 minutes of trying to get Henry to say still, not smile, not frown we finally got a good one of him. Spencer took about 10 minutes. He would not stop moving back and forth and he wanted to grab the camera and just have his hands up in the air. With me holding his hands and trying to get him stable we finally got a good photo of him. Finally it was my turn. It took 4 photos for me. You would think after what we went through to get the boys that I would have behaved, but no. The good news, the three of us have decent looking photos that look like us.

On January 5th Justin came home and told me that he booked us a vacation. We were going to Mexico, to the Mayan Riviera for one week all inclusive, and we were leaving in 1 week-January 12. Thank goodness that our passports were ready. The next thing was making sure we had everything for the trip. All I had to buy was sunscreen bathing suits for the boys. A quick trip to Old Navy for the swim suits and then to the pharmacy for sunscreen and we were ready to go. We had such a good time. Mexico was beautiful, the people were great and the weather was better than here.

We went to Playa Del Carmen for a day and walked down 5th Avenue and did some shopping. Henry and Justin went swimming with the Dolphins. We went to Chichen Itza (Mayan Temple Ruins). And we spent a lot of time at the beach and pool. We had such a fun time as a family.

Since coming home we have just been saying busy with the business and I have been staying busy playing Mom again, with not many distractions.

Hope you enjoy the photos.

Until next time.
